John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched many people by his lyrics. Many of these were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but fell in love Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states it is true that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. For many, Denver is the symbol of Colorado. Through my travels I've encountered people who are from New Zealand or the other side. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short stint in small folk bands. Danoff initially wrote the song with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver realized from the first time he heard early versions that the song could be a huge hit. Danoff recorded the song within a couple of days of performing at Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
