John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions by his popular-folk hits Many of them were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a native of New Mexico. artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Many consider Denver to be the symbol of Colorado. On my trips I've encountered people who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll say is"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff had Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once it was discovered that an earlier version. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
