Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. As a young girl, she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she attended The Dragon School. Emma had a dream to be a professional actress since she was six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school with part-time courses. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach as well as school plays when she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these roles. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. The film broke all records in terms of opening day and weekend revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Reviewers praised the film, and especially those who were young. The highly distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma received five nominations for her impressive performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
